somewhere over the rainbow

Hello dear friends!
Today I'm very excited because I'm guest designing for The Studio Challenges.
The challenge is 'Get inspired by a song'.
Here is my page:

The song I chose to scrap is "Somewhere over the rainbow" (music by H. Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg). I love this song and as a musician I like playing it on the piano.
I chose a photo with a rainbow up in the space and used light paste, gesso, watercolors and a lot of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and embossing powders to create the background as an extension of the photo.
I got inspired not only by the title of the song, but also by the lyrics. So, I used among other embellishments a star, blue birds flying over the rainbow and blue for the skies.

Lyrics
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Color your world #3

 Hello dear friends!
Today I'm sharring the third project of the trilogy 'Color Your World' I decided to do this month for Lindy's Stamp Gang.
(Here you can see #1 project and #2 project)
This idea came to me because of the April's color pallet which has all these amazing bright colors.
So here it is:

This time I wanted to make a retro style project on a A4 canvas. I chose a black and white photo with a ballerina holding an umbrella and from that umbrella I got the idea to make colored rain.
First I applied some Prima Art Basics  light paste with a mask, I spread some Geranium Coral Bluch embossing powder directly on it and heat it with the heat gun. Then, I got a charcoal and made some shading here and there on the page.
After that, I glued the photo on the canvas and with my drawing pencil I drew on the canvas the tips of the shoes and umbrella which are missing of the photo. I also drew some lines on the left side to expand the wall of the photo onto the canvas. The last thing to do was some stamping on the photo and the canvas and glue a tiny butterfly (I cut with my scissors form a prima paper) on the ballerina's shoe.

After all that was done, the fun part with the colors began! I used all the colors of the April 2015 Color Challenge Spray Set plus the Tilt A Weel Teal, Raspberry Lemonade and Merry Go Round Green magicals from the Under the Boardwalk set. I made a lot of splashing and blending all the colors together with some stamps - it was really a fun process! I also glued a big flower and painted it with all these colors. I let the colors drip on the umbrella and the tittle and I really love this effect!

So, that's all with my retro project today!
I hope you got some ideas and are inspired to have fun with colors too!

a beautiful start

Hello everyone!
This is my page for our April challenge at Scrap Around the World.

It is based on this amazing moodboard made by Hera Sugitani

Pretty beautiful, don't you think?
I was inspired by the sea, the starfishes, the seashells and the seahorses.
Summer is my favorite season and I love everything about it,  especially the sea!
I also like seahorses, so I decided to paint two on my page with my favorite sprays from Lindy's Stamp Gang.
I also used some Prima flowers and lace, and a few buttons and seashells.
Here is a closeup:

This month's mood board is absolutely gorgeous, made by Melenia Agapides.
The challenge is about water colors - you can use on your project any water based color, like mists, inks and of course water colors. Get inspired by the moodboard in any way you like, use the colors, the pictures, or the quote...

I'm not going to say much for my project today.
You can watch the video and learn how I created it!

love your life

Hello dear friends!
Today I'm sharing a small canvas I created for Mixed Media Place. I wanted to make something colorful and happy, so I decided to create a hand-drawn sketch of a typewriter full of flowers and butterflies!

To create this project, first I used a permanent pen and some prima stamps to make the sketch of the typewriter. Then I cut with scissors some beautiful patterns and a lot of butterflies from a prima paper and glued them here and there to make a collage.

After that, I used the Finn's stencil 'Weaving' with the light paste to create some interest on the background and applied some 'Vintage Photo' distress ink all over the canvas.

Then, it was time to focus on the composition. I used the Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays to color the dawned buttons of the typewriter and some gesso with water to color the black paper around them.
After some more stamping, I started to glue all the flowers, butterflies and other embellishments. As a final touch I used the watercolors and the LSG sprays to color here and there and make some splashes.

One more thing I did and had a lot of fun with, was putting some wire around the Prima bulb and using the same wire to hang some sticker letters on it in order to create the dimensional tittle. I really love how it turned out!

Color your world #2

 Hello dear friends!
Today I'm sharsharing the second project for the April color challenge at Lindy's Stamp Gang. I decided for this month to create three projects with the same title 'color your world', because of the pallet with all these beautiful and bright colors!
So this is my #2 (you can see #1 project here).
For this project I used a very colorful photo I found on Web and the April 2015 Color Challenge MEGA Set.

First I applied some light paste with a mask and spread some Sunset Yellow embossing powder directly on it - believe me, it works perfectly that way! After heating it with the heat gun, I repeated the same process with another mask and the Tilt A Wheel Teal embossing powder and heated it again. Then, I made some splashes with all the sprays, I stamped a few stamps and that was all for the background!

I also used one of the sprays, the Magnolia Magneta Gold,  to watercolor the stamped flowers with a paint brush. It is really a pretty easy and fun way to use the sprays and believe me, you will love the result!

One other fun thing I did, was to draw with a permanent pen some funky flowers around the tiny spots of the splashes. I love how they turned!

I also draw some leaves on the top and the bottom of the page, which I panted with the Oakleaf Olive spray...

Now let me tell you how I created the tittle. I used all the embossing powders of the set on the chipboard letters: while I was holding the chipboard letter with a nipper I poured some powder on the upper half and another color on the lower half. I dried it with the heat gun and at the end I did some doodling with the permanent pen. Really fun process, don't you think?
