As Free as the Ocean

Hello dear friends!
Our June Recipe with Finnabair's Team is here for you to inspire and hopefully put everyone into a summertime-seaside-holiday mood!!
You can see the rest of the girls created in Prima 's blog post.

June recipe

We picked out a seaside theme, with a little bit of a sentimental feel to it. Our product heroes this month are: Art Stones (all sizes: megaregular and mini) + Impasto Paints (mainly blues palette) = amazing mixed-media!!

I really love the heavy, creamy consistency and the rich colors of the Impasto Paints! I picked some blue shades to create the ocean feel. It's so easy to create textures with the Impasto Paints because of their thick consistency. I just used a paintbrush to apply them to the page and created a beautiful, textured circle in no time! I also used the Snow Whitepaint here and there and the Pitch Black to write the quote with a thin applicator.

The Mega Art Stones are also perfect for all kinds of summer themed projects - they look so real, as if you picked them from the beach. :) I used 3D Gloss Gel to glue them down. Finally, I used the Bubbles Stencil to add more interest to the background. As usual, I primed my page with Modeling Paste and Clear Gesso.

Snow Angels - Finnabair Art Recipe

Dear friends
The new Finnabair Art Recipe for Prima blog is here to inspire you.
Can you guess the art ingredients? :p

Snowflake Paste + Mica Powders + shimmery Glitter

 Art recip 12 2016

Snowflake Paste is perfect for creating dimension on your projects.
It has a snowy white, subtly sparkly finish when it dries, and it makes the perfect base for adding Mica Powders and Glitter!

Snowflake paste is the perfect product for me to use in wintery and Christmas projects. In this project, I used it in three different ways:

1. After covering the tag (recycled Mechanicals package) with Black Gesso, I used the Stars Stencil with the Snowflake Paste and the Silicon 1' Brush. When it was dry, I covered the stars with Black Gesso. I absolutely love the texture it adds to the project!

2. My next step was to glue all the embellishments with 3D Gel. I used the Snowflake Paste again to paint the large chipboard snowflake. Apart from the white shade, it added a beautiful sparkle to the chipboard piece.

3. When I was done painting the background with the Mica Powders (pale Silver, Rust, Frozen Lake and Tangerine), I used the Snowflake paste here and there with a paintbrush to add a real snow effect to my project. As the final touch, I added some glitter from the Ebony & Ivory set to the veil of the vintage girls with the Soft Matte Gel. I also attached a cute tassel I found in the Mechanicals Tassel set with a small Jump Ring.

Black art journal page for Prima guest spot

Hello :)
I'm sharing my new page for my Denim Journal I created for Prima
based on new Finnabair Art Recipe.
Our NEW Finnabair Art Recipe for September includes a wonderful mixture of sparkling
All of these products are absolutely amazing by themselves, but adding them together creates something even more special.

Sept artrecipe_small

I always enjoy working on black background - Black Gesso is my best friend! I used it to paint the whole page and added Gold Crackle Paste with the Honeycomb Stencil to add more texture. I used the Acrylic Paint-Opal Magic Blue-Gold to paint a few spots here and there with the Silicon Brush 1' and made splashes with Heavy White Gesso.

To embellish my page, I used a piece from the Vintage Center Mechanicals and some Mini Roman Numerals. I also created my own embellishment circles with a stamp from the Cling Stamps set - Tea on the Deck, velum paper and black embossing powder.
As a center piece, I used a black feather which I painted with my favorite colors of Mica Powders. I sprayed some water on the feather and applied the powders with a paintbrush. As a final touch I spread Gold Leaf and Frosted Mica Flakes all over the cluster. I used the 3D Gloss Gel to attach them. When my page was dry, I added it into my Denim Journal.

Denim Journal introdution and my page for Prima

 Hello dear friends!
Today I want to introduce you to my new addiction,
the DENIM JOURNAL designed by Finnabair!

I made the first page the very day I got it and as I was so excited about it, I couldn't kept myself to stop, so I decided to decorate it a little bit and fill all these cute pockets with my art supplies :)

Starting from the left to right:
The pocket at the left side of the journal is big enough to fit the Silicone Brushes, as well many other supplies like thread, wire, scraps, envelopes, little bags with art ingredients and anything else you can think of!
The plastic pocket sheet has the same size (7x9") with the rest of the pages (I folded it in half to look better in the photo above) and is perfect to store all your scraps, photos, paper embellishments, stickers, chipboards and more. I currently filled it with Finnabair's Ephemera.
The  big thick denim sheet (10x9") is the last page of the journal, and I love how it extends, as it' s wider than the rest of the pages. I stitched some buttons and mechanicals to have them in stand by and pinned a couple of needles. Of course I' ll fill the rest of the page over time :)
The five holes at the right side of the journal are perfect for keeping brushes, pens, pencils, scissors, etc.
So, that was all with my decorations and storing in my Denim journal :)

...

Let's focus on my art journal page I created for my Prima guest spot.

My project is based at new Finnabair recipe...

July art recipe
Rust PastesResist Canvas + Crackle Pastes + Art Alchemy Paints = a spectacular Finnabair recipe!

...and here it is...
"Winners are not those who never fail,
but those who never quite"

The project is based on this beautiful Mechanical Butterfly which I broke in two pieces by mistake.
I got upset but just for a while.
Then I thought: let's make a page with this broken butterfly, it will be a challenge, but I like challenging myself !
And so I did :)
I chose this inspiring quote because I think it fits perfectly with the broken wing.
You just have to keep going, even your wing is broken...

I cut this beautiful Resist Canvas 'Honeycomb' in the size of the journal's pages,
punched the holes and eyelets with the cropadile and started working.
I scratched with my nails the edges all around the canvas and with a paint brush I added some amount of Clear Sculpture Medium to seal these spots and make sure they will not fray in the future.

Then I used the Black Gesso to create some circles as the focal point of the page.
I also applied the White Crackle Paste here and there with the Silicon Brush (I love this brush, it's perfect for this technique) and let it dry outside naturally. It took about an hour.

When it was dry I played with the Art Alchemy Acrylic Paints.
I painted here and there with a paintbrush and sprayed some water on them to create a watercolor effect. Then I glued all the metal embellishments with the Clear Sculpture Medium and while it was wet I spread some Bronze Micro Beads and Black Glass Glitter.

I used all three colors of the Rust Paste Set to paint all the metal embellishments and some other spots and as a final touch I made some splashes with the Black Gesso and stamped with a couple of stamps here and there.

I really enjoyed creating this page and that was only the start!
I'm going to fill this Journal like crazy :)

Canvas for Prima Guest

Happy Monday dear friends!
Today I'm sharing a canvas I created for our guest spot at Prima blog
with Finnabair's March Art Recipe.
Art Recipe
Art Alchemy paints silver and green glass glitters + White Crackle Paste

March art recipe

I love the light and rich colors of the new Art Alchemy Metallique Paints! I applied, with a spatula, four shades of them with the White Crackle Paste and a little bit of White Sand Paste to create the background of my canvas.
I painted all the embellishments with the same colors, and glued everything down with 3D Gloss Gel. The Mica Powders are a perfect match with the White Crackle Paste.
I get really excited when the water activates them, and watch them flow inside the crackles! I used Pale Silver, Green and Bottle Green. I spread some of them here and there with a dry paintbrush and sprayed water.
As a final touch I glued with 3D Gloss Gel, different Art Ingredients (Micro Beads, Glass Beads and Glass Glitter), and the new Art Stones which look so beautifully on spring-themed projects.
