somewhere over the rainbow

Hello dear friends!
Today I'm very excited because I'm guest designing for The Studio Challenges.
The challenge is 'Get inspired by a song'.
Here is my page:

The song I chose to scrap is "Somewhere over the rainbow" (music by H. Arlen and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg). I love this song and as a musician I like playing it on the piano.
I chose a photo with a rainbow up in the space and used light paste, gesso, watercolors and a lot of Lindy's Stamp Gang sprays and embossing powders to create the background as an extension of the photo.
I got inspired not only by the title of the song, but also by the lyrics. So, I used among other embellishments a star, blue birds flying over the rainbow and blue for the skies.

Lyrics
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.

Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far
Behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow.
Why then, oh why can't I?

If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

  6. Ok - I have looked at this 5 times now... and I absolutely am awed by it. Of course, I love the song - who doesn't!!!?? But the way you put those colors on top of such a relatively dullish background.... who would have thought it would work? WOW. And the way you made the colors extend past the picture - just gives me chill bumps.... it just is a "real" rainbow - going from here to eternity......... ok - going to look again.... beautiful beautiful. j.
