vintage or modern?

So happy today for my spot at Words & Paintery as a Creative Guest!
Thank you very much for the invitation!

Here is my project...

...based on this beautiful color combo

I used there three colors plus some green glitter as the challenge requires.
I went for a vintage project this time but I think the result refers to modern look. Maybe it's because of the color combo.
I love it anyway and my favorite spots are the paints between all these gorgeous crackles!

Some supplies I used:

Finnabair products: White Crackle Paste, White Sand Texture Paste, Mechanical Grungy Butterfly, Ephemera Photo, Glass Beads, Glass Glitter, Green Glitter, 3D Gloss Gel, Mechanical Flower, Mechanical Gear, Mechanical Bottle caps, White Heavy Gesso
2 Crafty Chipboard: Climbing Rose Bush, Frame, Key, Pen Nib
ColourArte: Primary Elements Vintage Mint, Blue Zircon, Douglas Fir, Evening Primrose

Electric Rust *with video

Hello dear friends!
Today I'm hosting the Finnabair blog with an altered wooden case.

I created it for my brother. I haven't given it to him yet, it's a present, actually a surprise, so shhhhhhh...don't tell him anything yet :) He's an electronic and his lab is called '01'.
The mechanical numbers are the perfect size to write the name of the lab in the center of the composition. The new mechanical rusty and steampunk gears, the Barn Stars and Mini Hardware were also a perfect match for this project, I just love them there!

I started by gluing electronic plackets (I got them from my dad - he is also an electronic) all over the surface with  the new silicone brush 1' and Heavy Body Gel.
This Gel is a very strong glue and I highly recommend it  if you need to glue heavy or metal embellishment on your project like I did.

Next step was to cover everything with Black Gesso. It creates a beautiful and interesting base to work on it, the paints love it :)

When it was all dry I used some acrylic paints to color everything: opal magic blue-gold, silver spoon and light patina and also Emerald Green, Black Berry and Deep Waters from the new colors.

To add more texture I used the Platinum Crackle Paste here and there and used the same acrylic colors to paint it over when it was dry.

I also added Bronze Micro Beads and 2 colors of the Mica Flakes set. I glued them with 3D Gloss Gel.

The next step was the most exciting of all the process. I used the Rust Pastes. I couldn't wait to use them when I first saw this amazing product! I have to tell you, this is my new favorite 'must have'. The rust look is so awesome and feels and looks real!!! I absolutely adore the result!

Last thing I did was to spread two shades of Mica powder (Rust and Deep Water) with a paintbrush all over the project. I sprayed some water and dried it with a heat gun. I think this last step was very important because it unified all the colors and textures.

Here are some more details...

You can see the whole process in my video below.

fun background technique

Hello everyone!
Today I'm hosting the ColourArte blog and sharing a fun and very easy technique on how to create a background with beautiful textures and colors!

Let's see the supplies we need for this project:

ColourArte products:
Other products:

  • ATC card
  • Finnabair  Mixed Media Silicone Brush 1"
  • stamps
  • stapler
  • paper embellishments
  • rice paper heart - handmade
  • thread
  • flowers

First I applied the Radiant Gel on the tag with the silicone brush.
Then I pressed the stamp on the gel and removed it.
It dries very quickly and the result is pretty impressive!

After that I spread some primary elements with a paintbrush here and there and sprayed water.
When it was dry I glued everything down and I was pretty much done!

I hope you got some ideas on how to create a simple but impressive mixed media background!

Have a lovely crafty day!

Trust - art journal page #8

My second project this month for 2 Crafty Chipboard is a journal page.

This journal page turned to be one of my favorites in my journal
because of this amazing Aidan's Arrow.
As I was looking in my stash I saw it and that was it!
It was like a vision with this arrow standing on some big circles, don't ask why and how ...

I created this page immediately after the layout -yeap, that was a really creative day for me :)
I used the same color shades I used on the layout above, as well one more Polaroid Assortment Frame. These frames are so cute that I just can't have enough!
In order to alter the chipboard pieces I used  warm grey Silk and primary elements to create more texture on them.
 I

The ATC Tiny Heart is like the icing on the cake: cute and delicious!
I love how it looks on my beloved arrow :)
I painted it with H2Os watercolors purple and spiced pumpkin.

You+Me=Big Love

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!
Today I'm hosting the 2Crafty Chipboard blog, so I wanted to make something with a LOVE mood :)
This layout represents a big love, indestructible in time.

First thing I do to start building a layout is to place the photo and the basic elements and these are the chipboard pieces.
Here is how my page looked before adding more embellishments and painting...

I used three Polaroid Assortment Frames which I absolutely adore! They look so beautiful in the clusters and they come in different sizes, how cool is that?.
All chipboard pieces where inspiration of this layout, even the small Asst Arrow. I love how it stands there and points to the main composition.

To paint all the chipboard pieces I used silks and H2Os Twinkling watercolors.
It is really a quick process to paint all these before gluing them down - the chipboard sucks the color and they dry in no time!

For the cluster in the picture bellow I used four different chipboard pieces: two Polaroid Assortment Frames, the word Precious and a small Hedgehog (how cute is that??? )
I love how they look one above the other!

ATCs - Collect moments

Hello dear friends!
Today I'm hosting the Mixed Media Place!

I created these ATCs one for a friend and one for my personal collection. They are actually twins! If you look carefully you will find out that the one on the right is the upside down side of the left one... or the opposite :)

In order to create the background I placed the mini cards one next to each other and worked at the same time on both of them. First I used a circles stamp with Butter Embossing Powder and then the Scissors Stencil with the Graphite Texture Paste to create even more texture.

When the texture paste was dry I used three different shades of silks to paint the cards all over their surface. Silks are very shiny paints, you can see it on how all the pictures glow! The embossing powder resists the silks, but the Graphite sucks it! Ι love how the scissors turned out, with this double shaded color!

Next step was to glue everything down. As ATCs are very small cards, I used only a few embellishments, like small scraps and labels from the 7Dots Studio Soulmates Collection, 2Crafty Chipboard arrows (I painted black with Winter Ice silk), a couple of eyelets, bubble stickers and thread.

Then, I used the Soft Gloss Gel to glue some Glitter and Micro Beads on the big circles. It drys clear and I love the effect!!!

Last thing to do was to paint here and there with three shades of H2Os Watercolors and also make some splashes with them. And that was all!

I hope you got some inspiration on how to give shiny effect on your projects!
