"Happy Birthday" mini album

Γειά σας! Σήμερα έχω να σας δείξω ένα μικρό άλμπουμ που έκανα για τα 5α γεννέθλια της κόρης μου. Το φτιάξαμε μαζί με την εορτάζουσα και προσπάθησα να ικανοποιήσω και των δύο μας το γούστο: η Μαρία διάλεγε τα στολίδια και εγώ τα στάμπωνα από πάνω...:) Προσπάθησα να το κάνω όσο πιο απλό μπορούσα και γι' αυτό χρησιμοποίησα, εκτός από τα χαρτιά και τα αυτοκόλλητα, μόνο λίγες στάμπες... και καθόλου gesso (εδώ μπορώ να πω ότι έκανα την υπέρβαση-δεν θυμάμαι να έχω φτιάξει κάτι άλλο scrapbookικό χωρίς gesso).  Τα χαρτιά και τα αυτοκόλλητα είναι από τις συλλογές  'Hello Summer' και 'Country Drive' του Echo Park, ενώ τα cupcakes που έχω βάλει σε πολλές από τις σελίδες είναι από το πακετάκι με τα σημαιάκια που έβαλα πάνω στα κεκάκια μου.

Hello! This is a mini album I made for my daughter' s 5th birthday. She wanted to help me, so I let her to choose the embellishments and stickers and I just made some stamps on them :) I wanted to keep it simple, so I put away my masks and jesso (I think it is the first time I did scrapping without gesso, lol). The papers and stickers I used are from Echo Park's collections 'Hello Summer' and 'Country Drive' and the pink flower is handmade from Maya Road burlap ribbon. The little cupcakes you see scattered on the pages are the leftovers from the flags I used at the top of the cakes.

Και για να μην κάνουμε προχειροδουλειές, έψαξα στα κουτιά που μαζεύω κορδέλες και ό,τι άλλο περισσέυει από διάφορες μπομπονιέρες, που λυπάμαι να πετάξω, και βρήκα ένα πουγκί το οποίο και μετέτρεψα σε θήκη για να 'βολεύουμε' όπως λέει και η Μαρία το άλμπουμ μας και το κεράκι που κρατήσαμε για ενθύμιο...

I finally found a small pouch in my stash that is a perfect fit for storing this mini album and also the birthday candle, don't you think?

Η δεύτερη σελίδα είναι για την πρόκληση του Scraps & Pieces  που ξεκινά από σήμερα με θέμα 'treasures'. Μπορείτε να φτιάξετε ό,τι θέλετε αρκεί να περιλαμβάνει αυτήν την λέξη. Εγώ έγραψα 'treasures' μέσα στην καρδιά κάτω δεξιά.

The second layout is for Scraps & Pieces' challenge named "treasures". You can create what ever you want as long as you include the word 'treasures'. I wrote 'treasures' in the heart at the bottom right.

featured artist on Artsy Addicts and a tutorial

I am very happy to be a "Featured Artist" on Artsy Addicts blog today! It is a great honor for me and I really appreciate the invitation!
In this post some of my favorite techniques are being presented, as well as a little tutorial for Artsy Addicts readers creating a simple layout with few embellishments, following some simple steps.
I hope you will enjoy my work and it will give you some additional ideas.

Today I am going to show to you 3 of my favorite techniques that I love doing on my scrapbook pages.

1.Tearing pages from an old book. I love to create layouts composed by yellowed pages that have been torn from old books. Ι tear them in pieces and place them around my photo in order to create a frame. In my most recent layouts I use pages from an old chemistry book that a good friend of mine found dumped on the street!

2.Stamping and masking with gesso or modeling paste. After I glue the paper chunks, Ι choose the stamps and masks that best fit to the photo's subject. Firstly,I remove the photo from the working area and I stamp randomly around the photo's space with several stamps, then I mask with gesso on the stamps. Sometimes, when the gesso gets dry, I restamp over it to create a connection between the different media. After the stamping, the photo is placed back in position and I choose the embellishments that fits into the theme.

3.Altering embellishments and chipboard pieces. I like altering things, a common practice in my scrapbook projects. I like to cut into pieces all the flowers, stickers and chipboard elements, so as to give them new and unique shape. I then stamp on them, gesso them or both. In my opinion this gives character and style to my work.

Now its time to show you a bonus tutorial for you. I created a simple layout with few embellishments following these three steps!

I place the photo, the torn vintage pages chunks and the big embellishments that are going to be used in my layout.

I remove the photo and start stamping.

 Time for masking...

I place the painted and stamped chipboard pieces, I do some doodling around the tags and stickers, a little misting at the end and... 

that's it!
