Thoughts of a day | art journaling

 Hello dear friends!

Today I'm sharing an art journal page I created last night.

I was playing with my watercolors creating abstract shapes and shades.

It was so fun and relaxing not thinking what to do... just painting.

When my page was dry I looked at the shapes and let my imagination fly.

I started doodling with only a black pen and here is the result!

All these beautiful designs appeared in front of me, coming of nowhere.
What an unexpected surprise really!
At the end I added a piece of thread to connect the mother with daughter.

List of supplies (really short:)

watercolors
black pen
watercolor paper
a piece of thread

Complexity and Simplicity

Happy September!
Our new challenge at Scraps N Pieces is up!

"Opposites Attract"

My art journal page is about Complexity and Simplicity.
I tried to include in one page two different styles...

For this project I used ColourArte products (Primary Elements, H2Os, Silks and Vivids) to color it
and Finnabair Art Basics Products (White Heavy Gesso and Modeling Paste), stencils and stamps.
Chipboard pieces by 2Crafty Chipboard.
You can find a journal like this at The Journal Shop.
The butterflies are handmade by me :)

So, I hope I see your creation at Scraps N Pieces blog,
for a chance to win a beautiful collection by Crafty Impressions.

You can create any type of project as long as it's relative with our theme
 "Opposites Attract"
for example black-white, male-female, day-night, past-present, etc.

Colorchart book for ColourArte - making the cover

Happy Sunday dear friends!
Time for some inspiration with video tutorial for ColourArte!

I created this cute little book with file folders.
You will see at my video how to add more pages using a file folder, scissors and a cropadile,
as well how I created the cover of the book.

I'm already using this book as a colorchart with all my ColourArte products.
The file folders were perfect for this project, because they have these cute labels overhanging and help me find the categories of the color products in no time!

I hope you will enjoy the video and get inspired!

tiny canvas #2

Happy Sunday!
Today I’m sharing a tiny canvas I created for ColourArte. It’s really a quick and easy project to do, it only took a few minutes to paint it!
To create this project I used:
ColourArte products
Other products:
  • small canvas 8×7 cm
  • Finnabair Black Gesso
  • Finnabair white crackle paste
  • Finnabair white sand paste
  • Metal embellishments
  • chipboard embellishment (for the roof)
  • wire
  • screws
  • word sticker (7 Dots Studio - Domestic Goddess)
  • package card stock
  • craft glue
First I cut the package chipboard in a house shape and glued it on the back side of the canvas. Then I covered everything with Black Gesso. When it was dry I applied the two texture pastes (crackle and sand paste) here and there. I placed the chipboard and metal embellishments in the wet pastes (they work as a glue) and left it dry naturally for 5 hours.
After it was dry I spread with a dry paintbrush the three colors of the Primary Elements here and there. I sprayed with water and dried it with a heat gun. Then I applied a thin coat of Clear Glazewith a paintbrush to make the Primary Elements permanent.
Next step was to highlight some spots with the Vintage Mint. I applied it with a dry paintbrush here and there. I really love this color because it gives a vintage touch at the project.

Last step of the painting process was to make some splashes with the Siam White H2O. You have to spray some water in the jar to activate the color and wait for a couple of minutes. Then your color is ready to use.

At the end I added two screws and twisted the wire in order to create a hanger for the little canvas. I also glued a sticker with my tittle: ‘Unknown’.
Here are some more closeups…

This is the first tiny canvas I created,
you can see it in this post
