mini art journal |Go off the grid

Hello everyone!
Today I'm hosting the Finnabair blog with a new page in my super mini art journal
and comes with a VIDEO showing the whole process :)

Here in Greece we are in the middle of the Summertime and I'm really in a relaxed summery 'fishy' bluish mood! ;) You can tell from all my last art journal pages... :)
Today I want to share with you my last art journal page I created with lots of textures, blue shades and doodling.
I had so much fun creating this page, I hope you will enjoy the process in my video below :)

To create an interesting background I glued with the Soft Matte Gel some pieces from the Ephemera Melangepackage and other scraps I had in my stash.
Then I painted the whole surface with a thin coat of Heavy White Gesso as I didn't want to cover the patterns completely.

I used the 3D Gloss Gel to glue the embellishments I wanted to use, like the chipboard pieces, thread and Art Stones.
I also used the Mechanicals Screws and Stars Brads to secure the chipboard gear and the tag with the quote I wrote by hand.
I think they look so cute, especially the tag as thanks to the brad, you can turn it upwords every time you want to read the quote and then you can turn it downwards to store the mini journal.

To create more texture I used the blue shades of the Impasto Paints with the 'Cobblestone' Stencil and one of the Double Sided Texture Brushes.
I simply applied the Impasto Paints with the Silicone Brush and then with the silicone texture tool from the other side of the brush, I created the waves.
You will see how easy and fun this technique is in my video below.

To add some more color and interest, I spread some Mica Powders here and there; I used RustGold and Bluefrom the Mica Powder Set.

Here is my video, I hope you will feel inspired and get into a summer mood just like I did!

'Memories' in a frame

Happy Sunday everyone!
Today I'm sharing a small project in a frame I created for my art wall
with ColourArte Silks acrylic paints.

For this project I used:
ColourArte products
Other products:
  • White Heavy Gesso
  • craft glue
  • wooden canvas sticks
  • 7Dots Studio 'Domestic Goddess' collection word sticker
  • black frame

So, let's get started.

First step was to paint the wooden sticks with the Silks. I chose some of my favorite colors in green, blue and grey shades and used a paintbrush to apply them on the sticks. They dry pretty quickly and I love how rich the colors look after they are dry!
I also painted some of the sticks with white gesso.

After they were dry I used the craft glue to glue them down randomly.

I wanted to keep it simple with a clean and clear look, so I didn't use any paint on the background.

The only thing to do after the sticks were in place, was to glue a word sticker.

That was pretty much all! I really love the finished look and that Summer feeling it gives at my wall of art :)

Thank you for visiting!

Have a lovely crafty day!

nostalgic feeling

Hello mixed media friends!
Here in Greece August is the third and last month of Summer. That means that my vacation on beach house will end in a few days and I'm getting in a melancholy mood. But, still the sun is shinning and the sea is amazing for swimming.
So, today I'm hosting the Mixed Media Place and sharing a canvas about all these Summer things and emotions: a little bit of sea, memories and some paper boats I made by myself like those we used to make when we were children.

I glued on the canvas a paper from 7 Dots Soulmates collection and painted the rest of the canvas with white gesso. Then I glued the photo, the embellishments and the paper boats and stamped with several stamps here and there. I also wrote a small text I found on internet about 'what is a nostalgia'. After that, I used some blue and light brown colors to match the sea and the sand of the photo. The Lindy's Stamp Gang turquoise is the perfect color to represent the sea. I also used my favorite color ever Blue Grass from Primary Elements here in some spots to highlight them and as well gold and mediterranean silks. My final step always is to make some splashes with white gesso.

I hope you got some summery inspiration from my project.

love bugs

Hello everyone!
Today I want to share a canvas I created about love bugs for Mixed Media Place
I really like bugs, I think they are very cute and I love... love! So, my thought was to combine these two ideas in one project:

For this canvas I used quite a few embellishments, actually one chipboard piece and two die cuts from the 7 Dots Studio Soulmates collection!
In order to create the background of the composition, I used the light paste with Finnabair's 'Weaving' stencil and some Lindy's Stamps Gang sprays in color shades that match the photo's colors. I also did some stamping with several stamps here and there...

To create the clusters I used the wooden sticks which come with the canvas - I haven't figured out yet how am I supposed to use them, so I had this idea to glue them on the canvas :) I also glued on them some torn tiny pieces of old pages and little pieces of canvas paper and used some gold thread.

One thing I enjoyed was cutting out the bug. I printed the same photo twice and glue the bug on the second photo. I really like this effect - it's like a real one standing on the photo and looking at it's fellow! :)

For the tittle I used one of the 7 Dots Studio dies. As I didn't have any frame, I decided to make one of my own with gold wire. I wrapped some of it around the sticker and glued it down... I love the result and definitely am going to do it again in another project!

As a final touch, I used my favorite ever 'Blue Grass' from Primary Elements on some spots to highlight them.
