Electric Rust *with video

Hello dear friends!
Today I'm hosting the Finnabair blog with an altered wooden case.

I created it for my brother. I haven't given it to him yet, it's a present, actually a surprise, so shhhhhhh...don't tell him anything yet :) He's an electronic and his lab is called '01'.
The mechanical numbers are the perfect size to write the name of the lab in the center of the composition. The new mechanical rusty and steampunk gears, the Barn Stars and Mini Hardware were also a perfect match for this project, I just love them there!

I started by gluing electronic plackets (I got them from my dad - he is also an electronic) all over the surface with  the new silicone brush 1' and Heavy Body Gel.
This Gel is a very strong glue and I highly recommend it  if you need to glue heavy or metal embellishment on your project like I did.

Next step was to cover everything with Black Gesso. It creates a beautiful and interesting base to work on it, the paints love it :)

When it was all dry I used some acrylic paints to color everything: opal magic blue-gold, silver spoon and light patina and also Emerald Green, Black Berry and Deep Waters from the new colors.

To add more texture I used the Platinum Crackle Paste here and there and used the same acrylic colors to paint it over when it was dry.

I also added Bronze Micro Beads and 2 colors of the Mica Flakes set. I glued them with 3D Gloss Gel.

The next step was the most exciting of all the process. I used the Rust Pastes. I couldn't wait to use them when I first saw this amazing product! I have to tell you, this is my new favorite 'must have'. The rust look is so awesome and feels and looks real!!! I absolutely adore the result!

Last thing I did was to spread two shades of Mica powder (Rust and Deep Water) with a paintbrush all over the project. I sprayed some water and dried it with a heat gun. I think this last step was very important because it unified all the colors and textures.

Here are some more details...

You can see the whole process in my video below.

Once Upon A Sketch - Love for Cold...

Hello Everyone! This composition is my first entry as a design team member for Once Upon A Sketch December's challenge...

Theme:  It's December...
We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "'It's December.. " however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

This beautiful sketch gave me plenty of inspiration to create this mixed media composition. Because of  the 'Winter' theme, I chose my hubby's photo who has a particular fondness for this season (unlike me- I love summer :). I also tried to include various points in journaling, especially where the sketch indicates, but also in hidden spots like the ticket and the tag at the left side of the composition.

mixed media canvas

Hello! This is a canvas I created yesterday with my dear scrap-friends Eleni (she created a 'twin' canvas) and Katerina, who joined us for the fist time!

Along with her smile, Katerina brought a bunch of goodies, many of which are now placed onto the canvas, as well as knowledge and experience from the many courses she has attended from traveling with all the 'muses' of scrapbooking like Finabair!

This canvas is my submission to the  Berry71Blue November challenge themed 'FORGET ABOUT MODERATION AND GO CRAZY'. I think it fits perfect, don't you? :)

Update:  Thank you so much Berry71Blue  for choosing me as a winner!

My Man

Hello scrapy-friends! Today I will show you a "men's" layout which is in fact the first I am making of this category. I have been thinking on making something of this style since ages ago, but I was short on inspiration. I tried several times to come up with something from this photo, but I always postponed it. The right time came when I saw a sketch from "Get Creative" that left me a girl-ish feeling; at least this is how I felt at first, and that is what I tried to subvert!
The real fun in this was the stamps, the inks and the papers chunks, all mixed up and thoroughly disheveled...

Mini layout...

Hello blogers! Today I will show you a snapshot of my journal book. I have discovered some old photos (I try to forget how old they are, lol)  in a box and I decided to make a mini layout with one of them. I used the mixed media technique inspired from Finnabair (I'm a big fan of her)! Here is the result...
