'Piano love' for Scrap Africa

Hello!

This is my first post as a Design Team Member for 'Scrap Africa'. I'm very happy to be a part of this fabulous team and so excited that I will work with such talented ladies! 

 I created this page for May's challenge: I think that this is a quite beautiful and interesting sketch to work with. All these circles makes it a real challenge for me, as I usually don't work with circles.

To begin with, I didn't actually do any circles (I tried some at the beginning, but I found the result unsatisfactory). Instead, I have placed two flowers as their shape can be seen as a reference to the circle shape if you take a general look, don't you think?

I also put some gesso to create a  fade effect around the composition, again instead of the big circle.

I hope you liked my take on the sketch and you got some inspiration.

Get Creative - 4 reasons to love Winter

Τέσσερις λόγοι που μου αρέσει ο Χειμώνας.... Το καλοκαίρι είναι η αγαπημένη μου εποχή, αλλά τώρα έχουμε Χειμώνα και πρέπει να συμβιβαστώ με αυτό. Έτσι σκέφτηκα να βρω τουλάχιστον τέσσερα ωραία πράγματα που μου αρέσουν, μπας και συμπαθήσω λίγο και εγώ αυτή την εποχή. Γιατί τέσσερα θα μου πείτε? Γιατί το sketch της Μελένιας που παίζει από σήμερα στην πρόκληση του Get Creative έχει τέσσερα 'παραθυράκια'...
Four reasons I love Winter... Summer is my favorite season but now its Winter and I have to compromise with it. So, I thought I should find at least four things I really like, just in case I feel better with this time of year. The reason I chose four things is because Melenia's sketch in Get Creative's challenge has four squares.

Για να πω την αλήθεια δεν δυσκολεύτηκα και πολύ να βρω αυτά τα τέσσερα αγαπημένα πράγματα για τον Χειμώνα και τώρα που το σκέφτομαι κοιτώντας τις εικόνες, νομίζω ότι είναι αρκετά καλοί λόγοι για να τον συμπαθήσω και γιατί όχι, ίσως και να τον αγαπήσω ;)
To be honest, it didn't took me much effort to find those winter things and now that I can think of the images below, I think they are good enough to make me like Winter, maybe even love it!

Hello Everyone! This composition is my first entry as a design team member for Once Upon A Sketch December's challenge...

Theme:  It's December...

We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "'It's December.. " however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Με τόσο όμορφο Sketch δεν ήταν καθόλου δύσκολο να σκεφτώ τι θα βάλω πάνω στο χαρτί μου. Και λόγω του θέματος η φωτογραφία δεν θα μπορούσε να είναι άλλη από του άντρα μου, ο οποίος έχει ιδιαίτερη συμπάθεια για αυτήν την εποχή (σε αντίθεση με εμένα που λατρεύω το καλοκαίρι:). Προσπάθησα επίσης να συμπεριλάβω σε διάφορα σημεία γραπτό λόγο, journaling στη γλώσσα του scrapbooking, κυρίως εκεί που υποδεικνύει το sketch, αλλά και σε κρυμμένα μέρη όπως το εισητήριο και η ετικέτα αριστερά.

This beautiful sketch gave me plenty of inspiration to create this mixed media composition. Because of  the 'Winter' theme, I chose my hubby's photo who has a particular fondness for this season (unlike me- I love summer :). I also tried to include various points in journaling, especially where the sketch indicates, but also in hidden spots like the ticket and the tag at the left side of the composition.

 Mπήκαμε πια στον πρώτο και πιο όμορφο μήνα του Χειμώνα, τον μήνα των Χριστουγέννων! Σήμερα λοιπόν, έχω ακόμα μία γιορτινή σύνθεση να σας δείξω...

Here we are, into the most beautiful month of winter, the month we celebrate Christmas! Today I want to show you another festive composition I made...

To SIG μου έκανε την τιμή να με φιλοξενήσει ως GUEST DESIGNER αυτόν τον μήνα - Κατερίνα σ' ευχαριστώ πολύ που με εμπιστεύτηκες να πλαισιώσω την σχεδιαστική σου ομάδα, το εκτιμώ ιδιαίτερα! Η σύνθεση αποτελείται από πολλά die cuts (Κατερίνα μου σ' ευχαριστώ πάρα πολύ και για αυτό) και η φωτογραφία που διάλεξα είναι απλά μια χαμογελαστή φάτσα (η δική μου:) λόγω της χαράς μου για τα Χριστούγεννα που πλησιάζουν, χιχι...

My layout is composed by many die cuts and the photo I have chosen is simply a happy Christmas face, i.e. me :) 

Αν προσέξατε καλά στα κοντινά, η φωτογραφία είναι διπλή! Έχω κόψει το περίγραμμα του προσώπου μίας δεύτερης φωτογραφίας και το κόλλησα πάνω από την πρώτη. Και πώς μου ήρθε αυτή η ιδέα? Χμμμ... Θα σας το πω το μυστικό: δεν είναι μια φαεινή ιδέα (θα μπορούσε να είναι!) για να πετύχω πιο τρισδιάστατο αποτέλεσμα, αλλά προέκυψε από ένα ατύχημα που είχα, ακριβώς πάνω στη μύτη μου! Καθώς ακούμπησα το μωρομάντηλο πάνω στη φωτογραφία για να ψεκάσω τα mists, η φωτογραφία χάλασε, ξεφλούδισε!!! Δεν μπορείτε να φανταστήτε την απογοήτευση και τα νεύρα που είχα εκείνη τη στιγμή... 

Αυτό συνέβη όμως για έναν πολύ βασικό λόγο: η φωτογραφία ήταν εκτυπωμένη στο σπίτι... Μετά το σκέφτηκα πιο ψύχραιμα και σκαρφίστηκα αυτό το κολπάκι με τη διπλή φωτογραφία. Αν το δούμε και από την θετική πλευρά, τα λάθη μπορούν πάντα να αποτελέσουν μια νέα πρόκληση για δημιουργία, έτσι δεν είναι; 

Λοιπόν, ένα έχω να πω: το πάθημα μου έγινε μάθημα! ΠΟΤΕ μην χρησιμοποιείτε φωτογραφία 'σπιτική' αν μετά πρόκειται να ψεκάσετε!!! 

Αυτά και για σήμερα...

If you take a good close up look, this photo is actually two photos, one on top of the other! I cut the circumscription of me and placed it on top of the original. There is a reason for this. I'll give out my little secret: it is not a bright idea of mine as you may think in order to give a 3D result to my composition. It came out as a trick over an accident I had with the colors of the original photo. By the time I touched the baby wipe on the photo to cover it while I was spraying the mists, the photo was ruined, part of it was hulled! You can imagine how frustrating that was.

The reason the photo was hulled that easily is because I printed in in my inkjet printer at home. Later on, I gave it a better thought and came up with this double photo trick. So, getting on the positive side of this, I found out that mistakes can be a further challenge for creativeness, isn't it?

At the end of the day, I got my lesson! NEVER use home-printed photos if you want to spray later on!!

Όχι δεν είναι ορθογραφικό λάθος, είναι το όνομα της μικρής καραγκιοζίνας που βλέπετε στις φωτογραφίες...στα αγγλικά βέβαια! :)

No, this is not a mispelling, it is the name of my little girl you see in the photos. In English of course!

Λοιπόν... Αυτό το μήνα η πρόκληση του Get Creative ζητάει να διαλέξουμε 1 από τις σειρές της παρακάτω κάρτας bingo...
This month's challenge by Get Creative is to choose one of the following bingo card's rows...

...και όπως ελπίζω να καταλάβατε, επέλεξα την πρώτη κάθετη. Από καιρό είχα στο μυαλό μου να κάνω ένα χριστουγεννιάτικο δέντρο με σειρές χαρτιών, όπως είχα δει σε ένα βιντεάκι της Christy Tomlinson (μου αρέσει τρελά το καμβαδάκι που έφτιαξε) και μόλις είδα την πρόκληση χωρίς sketch, άδραξα την ευκαιρία! :)
... And obviously I have chosen the first vertical one. Since ages I wanted to create a paper Christmas tree , like the one in Christiy Tonlison's video (I love the little canvas she made) and when saw the challenge without sketch I grabbed the chance!

Μπορεί να μην στόλισα ακόμα το δέντρο στο σπίτι μου, αλλά στόλισα ένα σκραμπουκικό δεντράκι, έτσι για να μπαίνω σιγά σιγά στο κλίμα! Η σύνθεση αποτελείται αποκλειστικά από λωρίδες χαρτιού (που σχηματίζουν το δέντρο), die cuts (τα στολίδια του δέντρου)  και λωρίδες κορδέλας και το μόνο πρόσθετο είναι τα mists και τα μελάνια, τα οποία ΕΥΤΥΧΩΣ (για μένα) επιτρέπονται!

This layout is primarily made of paper that firms the tree, die cuts as the tree's ornaments and stripes of ribbon. In addition to these I used my inks and mists that -thank God- were allowed!
